Most of America’s rural and small town airports were built at a time when security and crime prevention were not issues. Consequently, little or no effort was made to incorporate security precautions into their design. This makes these facilities extremely vulnerable to modern criminals. Fortunately, there are a variety of relatively simple and inexpensive steps that can be taken to increase the security of airport facilities.
